UBITECH presented its contribution to the COP-PILOT project, focusing on extending ETSI SDG OpenSlice to enable data-aware, secure multi-domain orchestration for telco-edge environments. During the presentation, Georgios P. Katsikas from UBITECH discussed the evolving compute–network–data continuum and highlighted the need to bridge the gap between orchestration platforms and data space ecosystems.
The presentation described OpenSlice as a Telco Edge–ready orchestration platform capable of multi-domain service orchestration with built-in security and extensibility through pluggable controllers. A key focus was integrating “data-awareness” into orchestration processes, enabling data services to be dynamically combined with compute and network resources while respecting policy and data-sharing constraints across domains.
COP-PILOT was presented as a large-scale European initiative where OpenSlice plays a central architectural role in supporting federated orchestration across multiple vertical sectors, including smart cities, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and mining. The presentation also highlighted the project’s distributed marketplace of orchestration services and its use of federated data infrastructures and secure networking technologies to enable policy-driven and secure data exchange across domains.
