Agricultural University of Athens Showcases Smart Farming Innovations at the 2nd ICAERUS Demonstration Event
Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) attended the 2nd ICAERUS EU Demonstration Event in Athens, as an important step in promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange among European agri-tech projects.
During the event, Georgios Ntakos, from the Smart Farming Technology Group – AUA, presented the group’s contributions to COP-PILOT Cluster 3A, highlighting advancements in autonomous navigation, real-time weed detection, and precision spraying using an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) platform. These innovations, including the AI models and navigation systems developed by AUA, will play a key role in enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of modern agriculture within the COP-PILOT ecosystem.
The ICAERUS Demonstration Event successfully showcased the latest innovations in agricultural robotics and digital technologies, providing participants with hands-on insights into how robotic systems, UAVs, and autonomous platforms are transforming modern farming, from precision spraying to data-driven field management.
The event also served as a vital clustering and dissemination opportunity, strengthening collaboration between EU-funded agri-tech initiatives, including SPADE, OpenAgri, AgRibot, AgRimate, Climate Farm Demo, and Smart Droplets. Through this joint effort, the European research community continues to drive shared innovation towards a smarter, more connected, and sustainable agricultural future.
