Kingston University represented COP-PILOT Horizon in a stakeholder engagement and knowledge-exchange meeting with Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU), an organisation involved in advancing Selangor’s smart-state and digital transformation agenda.
Within COP-PILOT, the Kingston University team contributes to assessing the wider impact of the technologies and solutions being developed across the project, with particular focus on sustainability, societal and business dimensions. The engagement with SSDU therefore provided an opportunity to share knowledge about the technologies and approaches being developed within COP-PILOT, while exchanging perspectives with an organisation involved in implementing digital transformation initiatives in a real-world smart-state context.
Discussions explored how the value and impact of emerging digital technologies can be understood beyond technical performance alone, including their potential sustainability, societal and business implications. The exchange also provided an opportunity to learn from SSDU’s experience in developing and coordinating digital initiatives and to consider how practical stakeholder perspectives can inform the wider impact assessment of technologies developed within COP-PILOT.
The meeting also enabled broader knowledge exchange on topics relevant to responsible digital transformation, including AI adoption and the EU AI Act, and how considerations such as risk, transparency and human oversight may contribute to understanding the wider impacts of emerging technologies.
The engagement strengthened COP-PILOT’s industry and stakeholder links, supported the dissemination of technologies and research emerging from the project, and facilitated two-way knowledge exchange between COP-PILOT and a major digital-transformation stakeholder in Malaysia.
