COP-PILOT Featured at “Yorkshire Telecoms Showcase: Connecting and Powering Regional Growth”

On 16 June 2026, the University of Bradford was invited as a speaker to present at the Yorkshire Telecoms Showcase: Connecting and Powering Regional Growth, organised by techUK. The event brought together representatives from industry, government, academia, and the investment community to discuss the role of digital infrastructure and connectivity in driving inclusive economic growth and regional resilience across Yorkshire.

Representing the University of Bradford’s contribution to Horizon Europe projects, Prof. Vishanth Weerakkody, Dr. Kamran Mahroof, and Dr. Jing Li showcased the COP-PILOT Horizon project as part of the event’s Innovation Spotlight: Digital Infrastructure Innovation in Yorkshire theme. COP-PILOT was presented as a key example of an Innovation Action funded under the EU Horizon program, designed to develop an open platform for piloting real-world applications across energy, smart cities, agriculture, and industry to foster collaboration, innovation, and societal impact.

During the event, COP-PILOT highlighted its approach to sustainability, societal, and business impact assessment, designed to evaluate the broader consequences of the project across multiple stakeholder groups. The team emphasised that this framework ensures emerging technologies are harnessed responsibly to deliver meaningful public value and provides a comprehensive evaluation of project outcomes beyond technical performance, ensuring value creation is understood across sustainability, societal, and business dimensions.

By participating in the Yorkshire Telecoms Showcase, COP-PILOT gained an important dissemination opportunity that enhanced awareness of the project among diverse stakeholders. This event enabled the University of Bradford team to disseminate how impact assessment approach of COP-PILOT supports responsible innovation by ensuring that project outcomes are interpreted in terms of real-world value and stakeholder relevance, thereby strengthening understanding of how the COP-PILOT project contributes to sustainable and well-informed digital transformation.
