SUMMARY:Solving Connected Data Challenges
DESCRIPTION:COP-PILOT Showcased AgriFood Interoperability at CEI-Sphere Webinar\n  \nOn 26 May 2026\, COP-PILOT participated in the CEI-Sphere webinar “Solving Connected Data Challenges Through the Lens of AgriTech”\, where project partner iLINK presented the vision\, architecture\, and progress of Cluster 3A – AgriTech Transformation and Sustainability Initiative (ATSI). \nThe session addressed interoperability through the lens of AgriTech and Greek logistics\, two domains where COP-PILOT is developing concrete solutions to overcome fragmented data ecosystems. Panagiotis Zikos\, CEO of iLINK\, presented the Cluster 3A problem statement\, highlighting persistent data silos across monitoring tools\, robots\, drones\, and logistics platforms\, which can contribute to crop yield losses of up to 30% due to delayed pest detection and post-harvest spoilage exceeding 20% because of inefficient logistics coordination. \nThe presentation provided an overview of the four Cluster 3A use cases\, and attendees were also introduced to the roles of the Cluster 3A partners. \nA key focus of the session was the regulatory framework shaping the future of digital logistics. The presentation examined Greece’s eMARK (myDATA e-Delivery) national digital freight system and the upcoming EU eFTI Regulation\, which becomes mandatory across all EU Member States on 9 July 2027. COP-PILOT presented its approach as an interoperability layer capable of bridging national systems such as eMARK with the future EU eFTI common data set. \nTo address these challenges\, the project combines Just-in-Time logistics optimisation through PowerFleet routing\, blockchain-based tamper-proof supply chain records\, and a FIWARE-based shared data layer that enables trusted and secure information exchange between stakeholders. Together\, these technologies support more efficient logistics operations\, reduced waste\, improved traceability\, and greater regulatory readiness. \nThe workshop also featured a detailed presentation of the Cluster 3A architecture\, including the 5G Network Provider infrastructure\, Secure Integration Fabric (SIF)\, Domain Orchestrators\, Hyperledger Fabric-based traceability services\, and AI-enabled PowerFleet logistics optimisation. These components demonstrate how COP-PILOT enables secure cross-domain data sharing\, interoperability\, and orchestration across heterogeneous systems operating throughout the Cloud-Edge-IoT continuum. \nBy sharing both the technical architecture and real-world deployment scenarios of Cluster 3A\, the session contributed directly to CEI-Sphere discussions on Data Spaces\, interoperability\, digital logistics\, and cross-sector orchestration\, while showcasing how COP-PILOT is building more connected\, efficient\, and sustainable agricultural ecosystems across Europe. \nThis version explicitly preserves the elements you added: the problem statement\, all four use cases\, the individual partner roles\, eMARK/eFTI\, PowerFleet\, FIWARE\, Hyperledger Fabric\, the Secure Integration Fabric\, Domain Orchestrators\, and the link to the CEI-Sphere discussions on Data Spaces and interoperability.

SUMMARY:Privacy-Enhancing Technologies for Information Security in Edge-Cloud Applications
DESCRIPTION:As Cloud–Edge–IoT (CEI) ecosystems continue to evolve across Europe’s digital landscape\, the need to securely share\, process\, and govern data across distributed environments has become a central challenge. While edge computing strengthens local data control and confidentiality\, many advanced applications still require cross-domain data exchange and aggregation to deliver meaningful insights and ensure operational efficiency.\nIn this context\, Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) are increasingly recognised as a key enabler for reconciling data usability with data protection\, sovereignty\, and trust. By embedding security and privacy mechanisms directly into system architectures\, PETs support a “security and privacy by design” approach for next-generation digital infrastructures. However\, their real-world adoption requires careful integration of technical\, regulatory\, and application-specific considerations. \nCOP-PILOT Horizon will contribute to the upcoming CEI-Sphere webinar\, joining forces with O-CEI Horizon and other leading initiatives to explore how these challenges are being addressed in practice within large-scale\, operational environments. \nThe project will share insights from its Large-Scale Pilot activities\, highlighting hands-on experience in deploying CEI solutions across complex\, multi-actor ecosystems. These experiences will illustrate how secure data sharing\, interoperability\, and trust can be achieved in real-world conditions\, beyond theoretical frameworks. \nThe webinar will feature: \n\nA presentation of a PET study developed by Fraunhofer ISST\, providing a structured approach for selecting and implementing PET strategies in edge–cloud systems\nPractical insights from the COP-PILOT and O-CEI Large-Scale Pilots\, showcasing real-world deployment experiences in CEI environments\nA panel discussion on secure\, scalable\, and trustworthy Cloud–Edge–IoT architectures supporting Europe’s digital transformation\n\nBy bridging research and deployment experience\, COP-PILOT aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of how PETs can be effectively implemented to enable secure collaboration\, data sovereignty\, and innovation across distributed infrastructures. \nRegister here to attend

SUMMARY:DATA-Introduction of ETSI SDGs to TC DATA and Presentation from SDG OpenSlice
DESCRIPTION:Several partners in the COP-PILOT Horizon consortium (UBITECH\, Telefónica\, and p-NET Emerging Networks & Vertical Applications) attended the “DATA-Introduction of ETSI SDGs to TC DATA and Presentation from SDG OpenSlice.”  \nDiego R. Lopez\, from Telefonica\, leads the TC Data Technical Group in ETSI. \nChristos Tranoris\, from p-NET\, did an introduction to ETSI SDG OpenSlice. His talk covered how and when OpenSlice was conceived back in 2019\, its transition to ETSI\, the current ETSI SDG OpenSlice architecture\, the ecosystem of plug-and-play controllers around SDG OpenSlice\, as well as the recent ETSI HypO MDG that was introduced as an extension of OpenSlice towards multi-domain scenarios. \nGeorgios P. Katsikas presented UBITECH’s work within COP-PILOT project\, focusing on extending ETSI SDG OpenSlice to enable data-aware\, secure multi-domain orchestration for telco-edge environments. During the presentation\, Georgios P. Katsikas from UBITECH discussed the evolving compute–network–data continuum and highlighted the need to bridge the gap between orchestration platforms and data space ecosystems. \nThe presentation described OpenSlice as a Telco Edge–ready orchestration platform capable of multi-domain service orchestration with built-in security and extensibility through pluggable controllers. A key focus was integrating “data-awareness” into orchestration processes\, enabling data services to be dynamically combined with compute and network resources while respecting policy and data-sharing constraints across domains. \nCOP-PILOT was presented as a large-scale European initiative where OpenSlice plays a central architectural role in supporting federated orchestration across multiple vertical sectors\, including smart cities\, energy\, agriculture\, manufacturing\, and mining. The presentation also highlighted the project’s distributed marketplace of orchestration services and its use of federated data infrastructures and secure networking technologies to enable policy-driven and secure data exchange across domains. \nFor more information\, read this article.
