SUMMARY:Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) 2026
DESCRIPTION:COP-PILOT Research Presented at AMCIS 2026 in USA\nCOP-PILOT was represented at the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS 2026) in Reno\, Nevada\, where researchers from the University of Bradford (UBRAD) and OneSource brought the project’s research on edge-cloud technologies\, digital infrastructure\, and impact evaluation into an international information systems community. \nAs chairs of the AMCIS mini-track “Edge Computing\, AI\, and Digital Governance: Towards Inclusive and Accountable Public Administration”\, UBRAD and OneSource led discussions on the governance\, value\, and societal implications of emerging distributed technologies. \nA key contribution presented at the conference was the paper “Beyond the Performance Trap: A Multi-Level IS Framework for Valuing Disruptive Technology Transitions.” The paper introduced the Multi-Level IS Value Framework (MIVF)\, which combines three complementary perspectives (IS Success\, IT Business Value\, and Digital Infrastructure / Service-Dominant Logic) to assess technology value beyond conventional technical performance metrics. \nThe framework was illustrated through COP-PILOT’s Smart Energy pilot\, examining the transition towards edge-cloud technologies and showing how the same evidence can lead to different conclusions depending on whether value is assessed solely through traditional performance indicators or through technical\, organisational and ecosystem perspectives. \nThe COP-PILOT team also extended the discussion beyond the conference through workshops at the University of Nevada\, Reno and the University of Nevada\, Las Vegas. These sessions provided opportunities to present the framework\, gather feedback from international researchers and critically examine how effectively the approach captures value creation across different technological\, organisational and ecosystem contexts. \nThe participation at AMCIS 2026 strengthened COP-PILOT’s international research and dissemination activities\, while opening dialogue around a central project question: how can the value and impact of disruptive Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies be evaluated beyond technical performance\, taking into account organisational transformation and wider ecosystem effects. \nThe conference contribution also demonstrated the growing relevance of COP-PILOT research beyond the project’s pilots\, connecting its work on interoperable digital infrastructure and systemic technology transitions with wider international research on digital transformation\, information systems and technology value.

SUMMARY:EGOV-CeDEM-ePart 2026
DESCRIPTION:COP-PILOT Research on Smart City Value Evaluation Presented at EGOV-CeDEM-ePart 2026\nCOP-PILOT Horizon was represented at EGOV-CeDEM-ePart 2026 through research presented on the evaluation of edge-enabled smart city solutions. \nThe paper\, “Evaluating Edge-Enabled Smart Waste Management in Smart Cities: A Design-Oriented KVI/KPI Framework\,” was developed collaboratively by researchers from the University of Bradford\, Kingston University London\, and Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). The research is grounded in a live smart waste management pilot in Valencia\, Spain\, developed within Cluster 2 – Smart Cities of the COP-PILOT project. \nThe paper proposes a three-dimensional framework that connects measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with higher-order Key Value Indicators (KVIs) across sustainability\, social\, and business value dimensions. The framework aims to move evaluation beyond technical performance alone and provide a more comprehensive view of the value generated by edge-enabled smart city solutions. \nEvidence from the Valencia pilot includes an approximately 53% reduction in memory usage through split services and a 6.9-second actuation time from sensor activation to service deployment. These results provide evidence at the technical system level\, while the paper highlights the need for longitudinal assessment to determine how such improvements translate into wider public value. \nThe contribution demonstrates how Cluster 2’s real-world pilot activities are supporting research on the evaluation of smart city technologies\, while also strengthening the scientific dissemination and impact of COP-PILOT beyond the project’s pilot deployments. \nRead the paper and explore the COP-PILOT scientific publications.
