SUMMARY:EU-Canada Digital Partnership Week on ICT Standardisation
DESCRIPTION:The EU-Canada Digital Partnership Week on ICT Standardisation\, launched on October 14th 2025\, marks an important step in advancing transatlantic cooperation on digital policy\, technology governance\, and international standardisation. Co-organised by INSTAR and the Digital Governance Council\, with the support of the European Commission\, the EU Delegation in Canada\, ETSI\, and CEN-CENELEC\, the initiative brings together experts\, policymakers\, and industry stakeholders from both jurisdictions to align strategies on ICT standardisation and promote a secure\, inclusive\, and human-centric digital transformation. \nThe opening day of the event focuses on Cloud-Edge-IoT (CEI) standardisation\, a key enabler of innovation across multiple sectors including mobility\, energy\, and manufacturing. Discussions will build upon the outcomes of the INSTAR workshop on “Cross-Domain Standardisation and Architecture for IoT and Edge Computing” with South Korea’s TTA\, extending the dialogue to Canadian counterparts to foster interoperability and industrial competitiveness across the Cloud-to-Edge continuum. \nCOP-PILOT will be represented by Dimitrios Klonidis\, Head of Unit – Network Softwarisation & IoT Research Group at UBITECH\, who will take part in the session “Scaling Innovation: How Large-Scale Pilots and Industry Activities Inform Standardisation.” His contribution will highlight how large-scale research and innovation projects such as COP-PILOT are helping bridge the gap between experimentation and global standardisation\, ensuring that technological advancements translate into interoperable\, trustworthy\, and sustainable digital solutions. \nThis collaboration exemplifies COP-PILOT’s commitment to contributing to Europe’s leadership in international ICT standardisation\, supporting a global digital ecosystem rooted in transparency\, openness\, and shared values.
