SUMMARY:OSL#6 Plenary Meeting
DESCRIPTION:On May 22\, 2025\, University of Patras and Ubitech will participate in the OpenSlice Plenary Meeting #6 (OSL#6)\, taking place in Castelldefels\, Barcelona\, Spain.\nThe University of Patras\, a member of both the Leadership Group (LG) and the Technical Steering Committee (TSC) of OpenSlice\, will present the current status of the platform in preparation for its upcoming release. \nUBITECH\, also a member of the Technical Steering Committee\, will present its technical contributions to OpenSlice\, which are set to be included in the next release. \nIn the COP-PILOT project\, OpenSlice is a key technological component. Acting as the infrastructure orchestrator\, it is responsible for managing compute and network resources within the project’s operational environment\, in support of COP-PILOT’s objectives. Maestro is also a technological component of COP-PILOT\, acting as the end-to-end service orchestrator. Maestro participates as an open-source project in the ecosystem around OpenSlice\, highlighting use cases where multiple OpenSlice instances are used to manage different domains (owned by different entities)\, yet Maestro can coordinate these domains to achieve multi-domain service deployments. \nA mini demonstration is given by UBITECH showing a scenario where Maestro orders services across 2 OpenSlice domains\, highlighting the need for OpenSlice to provide location-aware services to Maestro. SUMMARY:3rd Conference “Navigating the Future” (NTF) 2025 – Greece as a Central Gateway
DESCRIPTION:iLINK Presented COP-PILOT at the 3rd “Navigating the Future” Conference on Green Transport and Logistics\niLINK participated as a Gold Sponsor in the 3rd “Navigating the Future” conference\, organised in Athens by Techno Publishing / T-Press and the magazine Logistics & Management under the auspices of the Hellenic Federation of International Road Transport Operators (OFAE). The conference is dedicated to green transport\, logistics and the supply chain\, and brought together more than thirty speakers from industry\, government and academia across six panel sessions. \niLINK contributed to the conference programme through the panel “Digital evolution in the road transport of energy products: new legislative requirements and technological solutions”\, in which Panagiotis Zikos\, CEO and Co-Founder of iLINK\, took part as a panellist. Alongside the panel\, iLINK presented its smart logistics portfolio\, including just-in-time (JIT) logistics\, and distributed COP-PILOT promotional material to conference delegates. \nCOP-PILOT was presented as the initiative through which iLINK is advancing its just-in-time logistics capability from a routing product into a data-driven service. iLINK explained that within COP-PILOT the dispatch of vehicles is triggered by real operational events coming from the field rather than by a fixed schedule\, that each consignment carries a verifiable record of its origin and handling\, and that the environmental cost of the journey is computed and reported per delivered unit. The audience of transport and logistics operators recognised these as answers to obligations they are already facing — customer demands for provenance\, and reporting requirements on the carbon intensity of freight. \niLINK also set out the value the project delivers to the company itself. COP-PILOT gives iLINK a real industrial pilot in which to harden its routing platform under live conditions\, access to a European consortium of cloud-edge-IoT technology providers\, and the opportunity to combine routing optimisation with distributed-ledger traceability into a single offering — a combination the Greek market does not currently have and which is transferable well beyond the agri-food sector. \nThe event is recorded under COP-PILOT as an Industry & Use-case activity addressing an industry audience. It supported the project’s dissemination and exploitation objectives by placing COP-PILOT’s smart just-in-time logistics and traceability results before the Greek transport\, logistics and supply-chain community.

SUMMARY:Governance for AI integration in traffic management systems (ACUMEN project stakeholder workshop\, Athens pilot)
DESCRIPTION:iLINK Contributed to the Stakeholder Dialogue on Governance for AI Integration in Traffic Management Systems\niLINK took part in the stakeholder workshop “Governance for AI integration in traffic management systems”\, organised for the Athens pilot of the ACUMEN project\, which is developing a governance and regulatory framework and a decision-support tool for the introduction of artificial intelligence and machine learning into transport management systems. The session was run as a closed roundtable with a small group of stakeholders from public transport operators\, infrastructure concessionaires\, municipal authorities and logistics operators\, so iLINK contributed through the discussion rather than through a formal presentation. \nThe conversation turned on two questions that COP-PILOT is addressing directly. The first was where the data needed to run AI in transport actually comes from\, and who is accountable for it: participants described fragmented systems\, the absence of a common data-sharing model and monitoring tools with no predictive capability. iLINK contributed the perspective it is building in COP-PILOT\, where operational data from vehicles\, edge devices and business systems is exchanged through standardised\, interoperable interfaces rather than point-to-point integrations\, so that data can be shared between organisations without either side surrendering control of its own systems. \nThe second was trust. Much of the discussion concerned transparency\, auditability and human oversight of algorithmic decisions\, and the recommendation that emerged was collaborative governance between public authorities\, private companies\, academia and civil society. iLINK contributed the view that trust in AI-supported transport decisions depends on the provenance of the data behind them being verifiable — the problem COP-PILOT addresses through permissioned distributed-ledger traceability\, where the record of what happened\, when and by whose authority cannot be altered after the fact. The same mechanism that lets a food batch be traced from field to shelf can make an AI-supported operational decision auditable. \niLINK also noted the relevance of COP-PILOT’s just-in-time logistics work to the inefficiencies in freight and last-mile delivery that participants identified as a contributor to congestion in the Athens metropolitan area: routing that responds to real conditions rather than to a fixed plan reduces empty running and unnecessary vehicle-kilometres\, which is a traffic management outcome as much as a logistics one. \nFor COP-PILOT\, this was an Industry & Use-case activity addressing an industry and public-authority audience. It supported the project’s dissemination and policy-engagement objectives by bringing COP-PILOT’s approach to interoperable data exchange\, verifiable provenance\, and smart logistics into a governance-focused discussion on the deployment of AI in European transport systems.
