SUMMARY:EGOV-CeDEM-ePart 2026
DESCRIPTION:COP-PILOT Research on Smart City Value Evaluation Presented at EGOV-CeDEM-ePart 2026\nCOP-PILOT Horizon was represented at EGOV-CeDEM-ePart 2026 through research presented on the evaluation of edge-enabled smart city solutions. \nThe paper\, “Evaluating Edge-Enabled Smart Waste Management in Smart Cities: A Design-Oriented KVI/KPI Framework\,” was developed collaboratively by researchers from the University of Bradford\, Kingston University London\, and Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). The research is grounded in a live smart waste management pilot in Valencia\, Spain\, developed within Cluster 2 – Smart Cities of the COP-PILOT project. \nThe paper proposes a three-dimensional framework that connects measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with higher-order Key Value Indicators (KVIs) across sustainability\, social\, and business value dimensions. The framework aims to move evaluation beyond technical performance alone and provide a more comprehensive view of the value generated by edge-enabled smart city solutions. \nEvidence from the Valencia pilot includes an approximately 53% reduction in memory usage through split services and a 6.9-second actuation time from sensor activation to service deployment. These results provide evidence at the technical system level\, while the paper highlights the need for longitudinal assessment to determine how such improvements translate into wider public value. \nThe contribution demonstrates how Cluster 2’s real-world pilot activities are supporting research on the evaluation of smart city technologies\, while also strengthening the scientific dissemination and impact of COP-PILOT beyond the project’s pilot deployments. \nRead the paper and explore the COP-PILOT scientific publications.

SUMMARY:CEI in the Field: Cloud-Edge-IoT Applied to Agriculture Use Cases
DESCRIPTION:COP-PILOT will participate in the “CEI in the Field: Cloud-Edge-IoT Applied to Agriculture Use Cases” webinar\, organised by CEI-Sphere\, bringing together pilot projects from COP-PILOT and O-CEI to explore how Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies can address real-world challenges in agriculture and the wider agrifood value chain. \nAs part of the programme\, COP-PILOT Cluster 3A – Agritech Transformation and Sustainability Initiative (ATSI) will showcase how Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies can support the digital transformation of agricultural environments and agrifood operations. The presentation will highlight applications across the value chain\, including smart logistics\, agricultural operations\, and sustainability-oriented solutions\, demonstrating how connected and intelligent technologies can help improve efficiency\, interoperability\, and data-driven decision-making. \nThe webinar will also address common challenges faced when deploying Cloud-Edge-IoT solutions in agricultural environments\, including interoperability\, data governance\, connectivity\, and energy awareness at the edge. By bringing together experiences from different pilots\, the event will provide an opportunity to exchange insights on the practical implementation of next-generation digital technologies in the agricultural sector. \nRegister for the webinar.

SUMMARY:Network X 2026
DESCRIPTION:Telefónica will represent the COP-PILOT project at Network X 2026 through its participation in the ETSI workshop “Telco-Edge-Cloud in the AI Era: Building an Open Federated Digital Infrastructure”. \nThe workshop will bring together experts from ETSI Software Development Groups (SDGs)\, the newly established ETSI Technical Committee on Federated Network\, Edge\, Cloud and AI Technologies (TC NET)\, and representatives from the 3CN initiatives to discuss the evolution of cloud-native and federated digital infrastructures for the AI era. \nThrough its participation\, Telefónica will promote the vision and objectives of COP-PILOT\, highlighting the role of AI-driven automation\, intelligent operations\, and cloud-edge continuum technologies in future telecommunications networks. \nA specific focus of the presentation will be the newly established ETSI OpenSlice Management and Orchestration (OSL) Management and Deployment Group (MDG)\, which introduces a business layer implementation\, complementing the current service implementation framework and extending its alignment with TM Forum standards. COP-PILOT will serve as the first flagship use case leveraging these components\, showcasing how AI-enabled operational processes can be combined with business intent management and standards-based orchestration to support telco services and operations. \nThis positions COP-PILOT as an early adopter and validation environment for emerging ETSI OSL business capabilities.
