SUMMARY:Regional Workshop Standards for Cloud-Edge-IoT ecosystems
DESCRIPTION:COP-PILOT Contributes to Workshop on Standards for Cloud-Edge-IoT Ecosystems\nCOP-PILOT Horizon will participate in the Workshop on Standards for Cloud-Edge-IoT Ecosystems\, taking place on 23 June 2026 at AFNOR in Paris\, France. The event will bring together experts from industry\, research\, standardization bodies\, and European initiatives to discuss the future of standards supporting interoperable Cloud-Edge-IoT ecosystems. \nAs digital infrastructures become increasingly distributed and interconnected\, the development of common frameworks and standards is essential to ensure interoperability\, scalability\, security\, and trust across domains. The workshop will provide a forum for stakeholders to exchange perspectives on current standardization activities and identify priorities for future developments at both European and international levels. \nCOP-PILOT will be represented by project partner NETCOMPANY\, with Konstantinos Fragkos presenting the project\, its main components\, and its contribution to standards. The presentation highlighted the project’s impact on standards through the CEI Hourglass Model\, using Cluster 3A as a practical example. \nThe workshop will also showcase the strong collaboration between COP-PILOT and the wider Cloud-Edge-IoT ecosystem\, including initiatives such as CEI-Sphere\, O-CEI\, LICORICE\, and INSTAR\, as well as engagement with relevant standardization bodies\, including ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 41. \nThrough its participation\, COP-PILOT will demonstrate how its platform architecture supports secure and interoperable multi-domain orchestration while contributing practical insights from real-world deployments to ongoing standardization efforts. These activities play an important role in ensuring that future Cloud-Edge-IoT ecosystems are built upon open\, scalable\, and widely adopted standards capable of supporting Europe’s digital transformation.

SUMMARY:EM-Power Europe 2026
DESCRIPTION:EnakronIC will represent COP-PILOT at EM-Power Europe 2026 in Munich\, Germany\, as an exhibitor. During the event\, the EnakronIC team will demonstrate UC#3E.1\, Harvesting in Real-Time Flexibility from Active Electricity Distribution Grids\, showcasing how the COP-PILOT platform facilitates the integration of data from different domains (Biogas Plants and EV Charging Stations) for use by an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and a distribution grid simulator. \nEM-Power Europe brings together DSOs\, aggregators\, energy market operators\, technology providers\, and other energy stakeholders\, providing a relevant environment for showcasing power grid-related COP-PILOT developments and collecting valuable feedback from potential end-users and industry experts. COP-PILOT dissemination materials will also be displayed at the EnakronIC booth to increase awareness of the project’s objectives and innovations.

SUMMARY:Code the Continuum Hackathon
DESCRIPTION:COP-PILOT Horizon\, together with the Eclipse Foundation\, CEI-Sphere\, and O-CEI Horizon\, will co-organize the Code the Continuum Hackathon\, taking place on 30 June–1 July 2026 at the University of Cagliari. \nThe event will bring together students\, developers\, researchers\, innovators\, and open-source communities to collaborate on practical challenges across the cloud–edge–IoT continuum. Participants will engage in hands-on activities linked to key domains such as energy\, mobility\, and industry\, working with real use cases and pilot environments. \nParticipants can choose between three hands-on challenge tracks: \n\nCOP-PILOT: From Code to Continuum: Orchestrating Distributed Applications with OpenSlice\nThis challenge focuses on orchestrating distributed energy applications across simulated edge and cloud environments using OpenSlice and Kubernetes. Participants will onboard\, deploy\, and manage containerised services simulating an energy monitoring pipeline across the computing continuum.\nO-CEI: Eclipse Zenoh & Sustainable Edge-Cloud\nExplore how Eclipse Zenoh supports energy-aware edge-cloud applications by comparing cloud-only and edge-accelerated deployments\, reducing bandwidth usage and energy consumption across distributed systems.\nECLIPSE FOUNDATION: Jakarta EE\, AI & the Hourglass Model\nDesign and implement a Jakarta EE application using the Hourglass Model and external LLM integration to analyse enterprise domains through modern AI engineering and agentic techniques.\n\nCOP-PILOT will be represented by Cluster3E leader Eleftherios Mylonas from University of Patras. \nThe hackathon will provide a collaborative space for experimentation\, knowledge exchange\, and the exploration of open technologies\, interoperability\, and reusable solutions across large-scale pilots. Further details on thematic tracks and participation will be announced soon. \nThrough this initiative\, COP-PILOT aims to foster cross-community collaboration\, promote open-source innovation\, and support the development of interoperable solutions within Europe’s evolving computing continuum ecosystem.

SUMMARY:DIGITAL 2026
DESCRIPTION:COP-PILOT at DIGITAL 2026 – Special Track on Digital Inclusion and Societal Participation (DISP)\nCOP-PILOT Horizon will co-organise\, together with the 6G-VERSUS and SUSTAIN-6G Horizon Europe projects\, the Special Track on Digital Inclusion and Societal Participation (DISP) at DIGITAL 2026: Advances on Societal Digital Transformation\, taking place from 5–9 July 2026 in Nice\, France. The track is chaired by Dr. Amizan Omar (University of Bradford). \nThe DISP track provides a dedicated forum to explore how emerging digital infrastructures (such as edge computing\, IoT\, and AI-orchestrated platforms\, including those developed within COP-PILOT) shape the conditions for societal participation. It moves beyond traditional notions of digital inclusion to critically examine structural dynamics such as data representation\, access asymmetries\, and the societal implications of large-scale digital deployments. \nFrom a COP-PILOT perspective\, the track is directly aligned with the project’s vision of interoperable\, cross-domain platforms. It investigates how advanced digital ecosystems influence civic engagement\, equity\, and justice in increasingly automated environments\, and how these systems can be designed to better reflect diverse societal needs. \nThe track welcomes contributions from researchers\, innovators\, and practitioners addressing topics such as inclusive digital transformation\, societal impacts of future networks\, digital inequalities\, responsible AI\, participatory approaches\, and sustainability in digital innovation. \n\n\nSubmission deadline: 1 May 2026\nMore information and submissions: https://www.iariasubmit.org/conferences/submit/newcontribution.php?event=DIGITAL+2026+Specia|\nConference: DIGITAL 2026\nTrack details: DISP.pdf
